Not to mention countless other games that I honestly feel would bring a new level of realism and gameplay that most people would shit bricks for one reason or another.
It is amazing at how much developers will boast about putting in years of research to study crowds at parks and ride dynamics, as well as adhere to a strict set of real world based physics.
Bullets behave as if in the real world.
Cars oney particular physics as to remain true to life feeling.
All the attention to make games play as real as possible... Yet, nothing done to reflect true park goers. Minus the fact that in combat people take damage.
When it comes to the players, and most NPC characters all that research and study is lost.
I double dog dare anyone to visit a theme park, zoo, racing event, fair, and most any community...
You will find people with disabilities.
Now I know for those with invisible disabilities this seems unfair to you. Every disability I have is invisible. Mentally and even my physical disability. Until I am in my wheelchair not for being paralyzed either you would see me sitting on my couch and not be any the wiser.
Here is how I see we can make better more inclusive games.
Simulation games from Sim City to Surviving Mars, and more should all have people with disabilities.
Just because we are disabled doesn't mean we aren't adventurous. Doesn't mean we do not explore, doesn't mean we should be forgotten about.
As for first person shooters.
Do you really think all you need to do after being shot but not killed or injured is sleep it off? Or hide and recover that way? Or my favorite is use a magic medical kit to fix anything that could be wrong.
In many future based games we see developers take the tried and true lazy ass way out.... We have genetically engineered humans that don't get illness, sick or disabled. Now we just magic away something that mother nature has built in from the start of all creation.... Wow! Aren't we special.
I get that many of the gamers bot disabled may not care to be so inclusive.
So, a simple fix to make games inclusive for those of us totally ignored on purpose disabled people.
Make the inclusiveness a toggle switch in settings and at setup. So people can turn the feature on or off at anytime they like.
So in games where injury can leave you at different levels of disabled you now have different but true ro life game mechanics. Yes for some things sleep and or med kits or other ways to recover can be used. Just not to recover from say a severed spine. A partially severed spine. A shot out knee or ankle.
You can opt for maybe a 3D Printer and a medical research center or other facility to print replacement parts that take time and will need to be surgically installed.
So now you are using a artificial leg or hand or entire arm... each can be upgraded using time to install them.
Canes can be more than just a simple cane... Make one out of solid steel or one to hold a sword or even a two shot gun of a large caliber.... Uphrable of course.
Scooters can start out derpy and end up like a single person tank with upgrades.
Wheelchairs manual can be simple to start and harder to maneuver, and get easier with upgrades. Get creative in a real world way and the possible combinations of upgrades can make you think twice about the next wheelchair user you meet.
Example: install an under the seat mine dropper... You drop mines behind you that can be proximity or triggered by you... They can deliver explosive, corrosive, electrical shock, or be flash bangs on steroids.
Install a motors into the wheels and have a powered manual style wheelchair.
Install the proper front casters and you can attain highway speeds with a decent frame upgrade. Motors are upgradable and so are power sources. Electric are stealthy, gas or ethanol are noisier and not always fastest.
Wheels can be upgraded to offroad more durable. Weapons systems can be attached to the frame to help protect you.
Power chairs already have a means to go with you using one hand to steer and the other to shoot. Upgrades to hover chair and the ability to traverse over water and such are now open to you.
Want to go 007 upgrade to the submarine power chair option. All electric and using near zero detectable materials to sonar and being so small and as fast as a race car on land your speeding underwater to take on the enemy....
Manual chairs can upgrade to hover mode take longer to reach.
Different types of styles of wheelchair both power and manual will result in particular tech paths you might follow. You don't have to, and can go your own path to make something even better.
People that limp.
People that that use canes, arm sticks and knee support scooters.
Each item has its upgrades to make them very deadly mobility assist devices.
The person using hand sticks or arm crutches upgraded tmao they have a taser field that works as a small force field more or less... Someone approaches to stab them or even shoot close range gets a solid taser zap that knocks them out for 20 seconds.
The arm sticks also serve as guns... Not out of the end on the ground but the part the hand holds is also always pointing outwards and is amiable.
Upgrade it to a nice 9mm 30 round set up for each arm crutch.
These are just some ideas to make first person shooters more inclusive.
Only I think game developers are to chicken and afraid to include these types of ideas. Even of they are optional.
Why I do not play Frontier Planet Coaster - no disabled park guests or employees.
Why I am not to excited about Jerasic World Evolution - no disabled park guests or employees.
Why I am not that into most games -
They are not inclusive.
I feel game developers must hate people with disabilities.
