#Microsoft #Windows #OS

Started on Apple computers in 6th grade, before they had Macintosh. No windows GUI yet. 8th grade would be my last experience with Apple, until I was a young adult.

I remember seeing a GUI interface that hid the rest of the computer behind it. In effect dumbing it way down. I remember asking what happened to the computer part, the directory and such... The command line?

Oh, you are used to DOS and or BASIC access, Apple has introduced an easy to use GUI. With this mouse you click these icons to open things and use them.

My shock to this reduction in ability and access to being able to write code made no sense to me. This was computers with training wheels.

I did experience TRS 80 portable all in one use all through high-school where I wrote a program out of sheer boredom. Turned out it wasn't half bad.

I would initially stay with Apple until System 7 was updated to system 8. Just could not afford the cost to buy the newer Mac PC in order to run it.

Windows had come along by this time, and compared to the Apple OS it was obviously inferior. At least to me.

Over the years many interesting and even better operating systems came and faded. Some rivaled Apple's OS and certainly blew Windows out of the water.

Issue being these alternatives didn't have the backing of Microsoft, and thus could be bought by Microsoft to then let die. Or, just could not advertise enough and gain critical mass to keep them in the running for long.

Enter Linux, I remember how critical experts where and Windows fan boys and girls laughed at this little open source OS. Who would dare install something as important as an OS that everyone can see the code to?

Well, today we see Linux going stronger than ever and making massive gains over anything Windows will ever hope to achieve.

With distributions in so many pre made flavors you are likely to find one for most people using windows.

With a 90% faster OS than Win 8 and Win 10, I am amazed that game developers are not flocking to that platform to really push things.

Don't worry that time is upon us now. As machines gain super powers to handle the garbage Microsoft calls coding for Windows it will take one major game company to decide to dive onto the Linux market.

When gamers playing native Linux games that blast frame rates through the roof and outshine anything the old dinosaur Windows could dream of reaching. Then more game developers will also see the advantages to having Linux native games.

And, while yes Windows will indeed be able to handle this for a while...

It will go the path Microsoft took with the site MIXER and start crying we can't compete with an actual well written OS. As being open source means actual pride and joy with passion go into making the OS run on as little code as possible keeping processes extra smooth and efficient. The people who find issues and then fix them are trying to actually help.

Microsoft isn't interested in that aspect at all. They rather provide 2% complete OD"s and software in general because they know people will buy into it. Over and over.

Cyberpunk comes to mind.

#windows11

Microsoft doesn't even care that in 2015 it made an announcement- Windows 10 is the LAST version of the OS they will release.

Not so much as a we changed our mind or whoops, might of got ahead of ourselves.

Remember when Microsoft bought into Apple? Soon after Apple drops #Motorolla and jumps onto the Intel chip set. Yeah, because Microsoft wanted the ability to market more software to Apple users easier.

So this Windows 11, so far what I see and hear is absolutely absurd.

We have so called computer experts from $PCmag and others spouting off the ingredients on the coolaid Microsoft serves them. No actual real human and personal input. Just read the script Microsoft is paying for this post...

Don't believe me, that is fine.

Is moving ICONS on a Taskbar to the center an actual FEATURE?

Making field and app containers have rounded corners... Exactly how is this a feature?

It is new paint. Yes, new paint is pretty. But. You can hide many actual faults and issues with paint also.

Making widgets more prominent... Really? We have had them for some time now. And, at least for me I haven't bothered with them.

Adding the date and day of the week to the time... Are you joking with me now? Again this is not an actual feature.

These things can be achieved right now. Shell replacement. System preferences, RegEdit....

New Themes - Yes Microsoft says it is a feature. I say, no.

The things being pushed on us as features are eyecandy at best.

Features would be things that help us find the actual cause of system crashes.

Keeping an eye on latency and when things go up but before crippling the system alert us to the issue and direct us on how to fix it.

Make crash reports. BSOD reports available to us. Mini dumps have the best chance to pin point the causes of these issues.

Actual driver updater that allows us to select what manufacturers we want Windows to search.

An automated way to download drivers for every thing and let us know updates are ready.

Allow users to uminstall all non system critical apps.

These are actual features.
Just some ideas.

So Windows 11 wants to look like the Mac OS...

Lost interest in the failing antiquated Windows look?

Why not make an OS that runs faster than Linux and be more stable.

Nah. Much easier to cut corners and take every shortcut to make money.

I predict Microsoft will abandon the Windows OS im favor of a Linux kernel proprietary language unique to Microsof. Like Cyborg you know to keep up with Google's Bionic code for Android.

I laugh that Microsoft is so unable to be original and different, that a feature is mimicking the Mac OS
