Years ago when I bought my first smartphone, I saw a 7 inch tablet. When I asked if this works as a phone I was made fun of.
The most ignorant comment was: Are you going to hold that to your ear/face and talk onto it... As the fool held another tablet to his ear to mock me using it.
When I explained how earbuds with the inline mic and media controller is how I or any other user with common sense would.
I was told zi can by a Samsung phone and get the tablet for free. I only had to buy two exactly identical data plans. I inquired if both are the the same data plans them why not allow a tablet to work as a phone also.
So I had to ask: Can the phone and tablet just share one data plan? Nope.
I thanked the sales guy, and said that tablet is far from free if you are required to buy a data package.
As such I bought an HTC.
Today, I own a Note 9. It is pretty nice.
So when I see the Samsung Galaxy Fold presented I was expecting to be impressed.
The specs are below, and to me they are less than impressive. Especially one speck the battery.
For the cost of a gaming laptop you get a toy... I thought Samsung was trying to do something impressive. This made me laugh hard.
Back in the day we had pocket radios, pocket TV all much heavier than the 7 ounce phone's of today. Yet, we did not complain about how heavy those items were. Same with boom boxes some of those could hide a smart for two behind them. Remember the first laptops and how much they weighed.
I wanted to set the stage for what I feel is the dumbest move Samsung and all other cell manufacturers do.... Make batteries way to small and expect to much from them.
Is it asking to much to expect a phone to last for 24 hours of use? Why not make batteries with more power?
Even if the phone had to be double thickness and weight.
4,380mAh LMAO! Really, Samsung.
I invite all other phone manufacturers to do much better.
For the money I spent on the Note 9 I expected a 10,000mAh battery. But, it has an insanely small battery.
So, when the Fold is shown for all its glory Samsung's CEO appears to have just given birth to something truly incredible.
Meh... Was what I thought.
So will tablets that don't fold be able be sold as phones also?
For one thing the way the case folds and leaves a peep hole looks so stupid. Samsung advertises it folds flat. That is not folding flat.
The battery should be 10,000mAh per side minimum. I mean we are talking a new phone format. Why not really make your competitors have to really work hard to keep up.
Samsung you make no real effort at innovation, you pretend. And, when any other manufacture produces a battery that lasts a week streaming live to twitch. That same battery lasts two weeks at heavy use, and one month at light use, while besting your small batteries by leaps and bounds.
You might be interesting the folks with more money than sense. Frankly, though I feel you are really shortsighted and narrow minded with it comes to a more logical design.
At double the thickness, you can add projection, more USB & HDMI ports... Better GPU chips, better cooling and more.
What would I know? 8 years ago I was asking for tablets that also function as a phone... But, who would want that?
Also no expandable memory...Is this a TSR 80?
