What is the percentage of disabled people in the world? More than you would ever think!

FOUR POINT THREE to FIVE POINT NINE BILLION PEOPLE...

Since founding AbiliTV in 1995 I started to research how many people in the entire world might be disabled. The US had it at about 10% and the World Bank between 10% to 30%... I wondered why such a difference... Then I re-read what I was reading: ESTIMATE.

First let's establish that no matter where from an estimate is just that, a guess based on information you have at hand.
verb
ˈestəˌmāt/
  1. 1.
roughly calculate or judge the value, number, quantity, or extent of.
"the aim is to estimate the effects of macroeconomic policy on the economy"
    synonyms:calculate roughly, approximateguess;
  2. noun
    ˈestəmət/
    1. 1.
an approximate calculation or judgment of the value, number, quantity, or extent of something.
"at a rough estimate, our staff is recycling a quarter of the paper used"
      synonyms:rough calculation, approximationestimation, rough guess;
What is the percentage of disabled people in the world?
One billion people, or 15 percent of the world’s population, experience some form of disability, and disability prevalence is higher for developing countries. One-fifth of the estimated global total, or between 110 million and 190 million people, experience significant disabilities.

I got to thinking after looking at the US and World Bank estimates and realized something was way off...
The UN offers a lot to say on this matter:

Factsheet on Persons with Disabilities

Overview

  • Around 15 per cent of the world's population, or estimated 1 billion people, live with disabilities. They are the world's largest minority. (WHO)
  • This figure is increasing through population growth, medical advances and the ageing process, says the World Health Organization. (WHO)

With even this information People with disabilities are a huge number of people. But still much was missing from the studies of other mammal species around the world where they show a rate of disability at something like 50% or more sometimes much more. I still was determined to range in on the closest estimate ever figured in the history of the human race.

Why not, I have nothing but time now that I am fully disabled myself, and since I am not sponsored by any government, or company, or other special interest group, or anyone or anything else I can try to get a better figure. Because so far nothing I was learning fit into what these so called global estimates lead me to understand. I was seeing things as we have many more times the amount of People with disabilities than ANY so called official agency would ever want to share or expand on...

If for nothing more than to prevent worldwide panic, and fear...

When we break down the world into population, and then it's socioeconomic levels we start to learn more.  For one thing, when these numbers are taken they come from countries that keep and take stats on there population, and then break it into levels, or classes, or categories.

All nations of the world do try there best to count everyone, and thus is how we know roughly how many people are alive today. What developed countries do or first world countries do that as far as I know to the day third world or developing countries do not do and have not done to this day is count how many people are disabled.

So that number 10% or 15% either one or both do not actually take into account all people on Earth. No method of counting really ever can or will. So we need to understand that, and know that it is a rough  guess, an estimate when it is posted.

What needs to be made clear to people is that ONLY countries that collect information of disabled people are the ones this #% is made up of. And, that there is likely a lot more people unknown using the official census methods in countries that for pride reasons, public image issues, and other reasons not to keep track of these people due to the fact it makes that country, and race of people appear weaker and or second rate humans or worse... So these stats from those parts are only how many people live in that part of the world.

To dive deeper into this I contacted thousands of individuals whom either by themselves or apart of some company or organization go to those poorest parts of the world and offer all sorts of help, and asked them for ball park figures or estimates, and rough guesses on how many people they feel may be disabled... I felt what better way to get the most clear data...

I have the mind set that our governments all of them will lie to us at points and times to appear or make things appear as they want them to appear... So I really distrust the so called official methods of counting people that... Just can not be possible.\

Here is why it is not possible to be as low as 10% or 15% first we have tons of studies worldwide showing all species of animals of a pretty large group that would be labeled as disabled, and to then look upon the human species as if somehow by magic we do not fall in line with Mother Natures way of making life work... Strikes me as odd.

With 83% to 85% of the world's poorest people living in underdeveloped and developing nations or 3rd world nations, where the simple things we take for granted a broken bone, clean safe water, constant food supply, always on electricity, roads, medicl help, dental care, vision care, and much more than we can imagine... These part of the world are lacking in big time, and while something might be minor in a first world nation, to human beings in these poorest parts becomes a disabler.

Now, knowing this fact that out of SEVEN BILLION PLUS people about 85% live in places so poor they suffer from simple issues that become permanent disablers...

How many people is 85% of the 7 plus billion people? 5,950,000,000

That is a lot of people isn't it? Out of those how many might be disabled... A lot of them, and we can safely know that these people suffer the greatest due to lack of a society that supports and helps all of its people no matter disability or anything other than criminals.

How much is 15% out of 7 Billion: 1,050,000,000

That is also a lot of people these are the ones recorded through census efforts that we know about... That does not include people who DO NOT REPORT for any reason, and those unaware they are disabled, and those who are homeless. Knowing these situations helps us realize just how off this percentage is...

Let's now take it from the top:

Roughly out of the 2 plus billion people that the 85% poorest nations that do not count disabled people, suggest that those that live in developed parts of the world, that One Billion Disabled becomes instantly 50% plus of the DEVELOPED Portion of the world that counts disabled people... See how this is all broken, and yet we accept these numbers as stone cold fact that only 15% in the entire world are disabled...

What I got back in numbers blew my mind...

We have roughly have a total of 4.3 billion to 5.9 billion people on Earth today with disabilities that is my Estimate.
